Hi all,
having moved from Germany (very slow internet connection in our
village) here to The Netherlands I really enjoy the good fast conect
here. Thus I became a real fan of internet radio. I dumped my fm
receiver here and just listen to the radio via the net - terrific.
It's really astoni****ng. I can listen to radio stations which
otherwise I wouldn't even have the slightest chance to receive,
including satellite.
Using my PIII laptop with Debian Etch my favourite player is vlc (in
the office I use vlc for WIN), but sometimes just some other players.
I connected two loudspeaker boxes to my laptop because it's own
loudspeakers are a cruelty to your ears.
I still remember my grandpa telling me how he (in the late 20=C5=9B in
Germany) listened to the radio with help of a cristal detector
receiver unit which needed an antenna several meters long (had to be
brought in when a thunderstorm came up). Now I sit here with my
little computer and listen to the world.
That's so great, isn it.
Regards from Veenendaal,
Dirk
