Last night I was tuning 80m and heard a lot of PSK31 action. Something
called PSKFEST was in progress. I made a few contacts with a
less-than-ideal antenna, a long wire wrapped draped around a tree. (I
have
no shame.)
Today on 20, it was a picnic. All afternoon, the waterfall was full. I
made dozens of PSK31 contacts from my San Diego County QTH to the East
Coast, Canada and Alaska. At one point, the Fairbanks, Alaska station was
the strongest signal. Yee-HA!
Life is good and it's only going to get better as we head into Cycle 24.
Lest you think I have some great 20m antenna -- think again. I have a
piece of coax up to the peak of my garage roof, into a balun and two
pieces
of #16 lamp cord draped down on my garage roof. Oh, yeah, I got real
fancy:
I trimmed the lamp cord for resonance at 20m. Big deal! Ha!
